Turmeric Milk for Colds

This home remedy is based on an ancient Ayurvedic recipe for coughs, colds and sore throats. Turmeric is well known for its anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and anti-oxidant properties. Sipping turmeric milk can reduce nasal congestion, sooth sore throats, and reduce the length and severity of your cold.

Modern Savage Living testers have found turmeric milk to be more effective than over-the-counter syrups and pills. The best part is it tastes great and does not have the side effects of commercial cold remedies.

Turmeric Milk

  • 2 cups organic full-fat coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger (or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger)
  • 2 black peppercorns, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Liquid Stevia, raw honey or organic erythritol (optional)

Place all ingredients in a saucepan on medium heat – stir frequently. Sweeten to taste. Pour through a strainer into a mug and drink hot.

NOTE: The coconut milk in this recipe can be replaced with cream or raw whole milk. If using raw milk, carefully follow the instructions on the Windsor Dairy recipe page
